product concept

designed a set of basic visual design educational materials for third grade through sixth grade. and cooperated with seven elementary schools in southern Taiwan on the art course which was exhibited at the National Tainan Living Art Museum.

為國小中高年級的學童,設計出一套兒童基礎視覺設計教材。2019年與南台灣七所小學合作實驗課程,於台南美學館展出。

background

i was a summer art teacher at Chang-Fu Elementary School in 2015, during this process, i observed some students felt bored and nothing challenging, they wanted as soon as possible to finish the art material which is prepared by the school. this impressive experience leads me and my friends to start research.

2015年的暑假,我在鶯歌昌福國小當暑期美術老師,我觀察到學生只想趕快把學校提供的美術教材完成,粗略地畫上幾個顏色,便開始分心。這個印象深刻的體驗,使我與大學同學開始進行調查。

the challenge

Starting from the scenes and objects in our daily life to guide children to observe and think about a more different way of beauty.

日常生活中的場景及物品出發,以引導孩童從生活中自主觀察、思考更多美的可能性。

the outcome

designed a set of basic visual design educational materials which included the observation of shapes, the perception of colors, and the cognition of calligraphy in three parts.

打造一套基礎視覺設計教材—造型觀察、色彩感知、字體認識。

interview

we decided to start with interviews, visited Tainan San-Cun Elementary School, Tainan Yong-Sin Elementary School, and National University of Tainan Affiliated Primary School, and interviewed three art teachers. we found that art materials are highly used in the art course in Taiwan, and they all think that is too outdated and unattractive to children.

我們決定從訪談使用者開始,實際走訪台南三村國小、台南永信國小與臺南大學附設實驗小學,並訪問其中任職中高年級的美術老師。我們發現美術教材在台灣美術教育中佔了很大的使用比例,且普遍老師對於教材的回饋都是觀念過於老舊、對於學生不具吸引力。

在新學期開始前,老師們會共同決定要使用哪一個出版社的美術課本,附贈的美術材料包在這裡扮演了關鍵的角色,因為請學生自行準備材料是老師們的下下策,而使用現成的材料包可以更有效率的完成課程。

贈送的美術材料包大多成本低廉,因此使用上容易有教學目標模糊、質感粗糙、未與時俱進的問題。

美術課的資源會因地區而變化,偏鄉小學相對都市學校更容易有缺乏專業師資或經費不足而縮減課程資源的狀況出現。

Therefore, we decided to design new art materials for third grade through sixth grade which made us start to think about what the core value of art education is. based on the Arts and Humanities curriculum schemed out by the Ministry of Education in 2018, we began to study the art course design and the content differences of Kang Hsuan, Nan-I, and Han-Lin.

因此我們決定為國小中高年級設計一套全新的美術教材,這讓我們開始思考美術教育的核心價值是什麼。以當時最新的107課綱為出發,開始著手研究國小美術課程設計與康軒、南一、翰林出版社的內容差異。

exhibition

cooperated with National Tainan Living Art Museum to conduct experimental courses in 12 elementary schools including Chiayi, Tainan, Kaohsiung, and Pingtung, and the outcome was exhibited in 2019.

與國立臺南生活美學館共同合作在十二所小學進行實驗教學計畫,合作小學橫跨嘉義、臺南、高雄、屏東共十二所,成果於2019年在台南生活美學館展出。
